Trauma-Informed Therapeutic Care
A trauma-informed therapist at the Children’s Advocacy Center is a trained mental health professional who specializes in working with children who have experienced trauma. Providing evidence-based therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or play therapy, to help children process and cope with the trauma they have experienced.
Providing support and education to non-offending caregivers to help them understand and support their child's healing process.
Coordinating with other members of the CAC team, such as the forensic interviewer and medical provider, to ensure that the child's needs are being met in a coordinated and comprehensive manner.
Providing crisis intervention and safety planning as needed
Maintaining accurate and confidential records of all services provided
